If you’re not familiar with Leroux, he became the technical director of Comte Armand at 24, before which he enrolled in viticultural school at 15. In other words, the writing was on the wall. His style is polished, elegant, and vibrant. Despite rapidly trending toward ‘benchmark’ status amongst people who know what’s up, his wines still offer phenomenal value for the price.

2015 was the first vintage of this cuvée from a .60 ha parcel planted in the 1950s. About 30% whole-cluster (younger vines 100% de-stemmed, older vines 50% de-stemmed), indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged for 12 months in barrel (up to 20% new oak).

The 2022 Benjamin Leroux Pommard 1er Cru "Rugiens-Hauts" offers a powerful and complex bouquet of blackberries, dark cherries, and blackcurrants, mingled with earthy notes of truffle, crushed herbs, and smoky minerality. On the palate, it reveals a robust structure with firm yet polished tannins, delivering flavors of ripe dark fruits, licorice, and subtle spices. The wine finishes with remarkable length and finesse, supported by a mineral-driven core and a whisper of oak.
