Last year, our Bachelet offer sold out in minutes.  These are some of the most sought after Burgundy's that we offer to the masses each year, and they get scooped up furiously.  This year, we have a decent amount of wine to go around, and pricing has stayed relatively sane, thankfully, in this crazy wine world, another reason why collectors gravitate towards these wines.  Bachelet's give immediate pleasure if you open them now, and these are wines to drink now while the rest of your cellar matures, or hold them for 5-10 years easily.  The 2024s at Bachelet are being praised by critics alike, once again, even in a difficult growing season, they knocked it out of the park.

A very limited amount of Bachelet Monnot's new releases have just landed.  These arrive in minuscule quantities, and are some of the most compelling Burgundies to hit our shelves each year. the 2024 vintage was again, a difficult one, but the brothers proved once again how they are masters of their craft, and on the forefront of top tier Burgundy producers. Less new oak was used in 2024, to preserve the purity and delicate structure that this vintage brought.  A true classic vintage!

Based in Maranges, brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet have an embarrassingly rich selection of crus vineyard sites around the Beaune. Their first vintage was in 2005, and since then they have FIRMLY established themselves as two of Burgundy’s finest winemakers. I have been drinking these wines each vintage for the past few years, and the whites have depth and cut, Often with the power of Puligny and Chassagne with the cut of Chablis. While the reds interplay between bright and full of sunshine Beaune style to the earthy and haunting character of the famous villages to the north in the Cote de Nuits.

All of the white wines go through a long press before being fermented with indigenous yeasts in larger 350L barrels and are aged for 12 months in barrel and an additional 6 months in stainless steel tank before release. The comparisons to some of Burgundy’s elites make complete sense as the resulting wines are breathtakingly layered, racy, and achingly long.And like many of Burgundy’s best, the reds are of equal quality with an aromatic lift, grain and texture that makes them among the most compelling Pinot Noirs made in the Côte-d’Or today.

This release, we are able to offer a wide array of their Chardonnays and Pinots, including 1er cru, and old vine cuvees, along with some entry level expressions which have expositions that sit next to some very prestigious terroirs!
 

WHITE WINES

Bourgogne Blanc Côte d’Or - 24 bottles available
Vineyards: Primarily four Bourgogne-classified Chardonnay parcels located within Puligny-Montrachet, sometimes supplemented with young-vine Chassagne-Montrachet fruit. Vine age: Approximately 20–50 years; some sources report an average of 40–50 years.

Maranges 1er Cru La Fussière Blanc - 12 bottles available
Vineyards: Just under one hectare in the higher, most calcareous section of La Fussière. The limestone-rich soils produce a particularly mineral and energetic expression of Maranges. Vine age: Approximately 25–35 years.

Chassagne-Montrachet - 24 bottles available
Vineyards: A blend of five village-level parcels: La Canière, Le Chêne, Les Benoîtes, Le Pot Bois and En Journoblot. Together, these parcels represent several different sectors of Chassagne-Montrachet. Vine age: Approximately 25–35 years.

Puligny-Montrachet - 12 bottles available
Vineyards: Primarily Les Corvées/Corvée des Vignes, Les Meix, Les Houillères, Noyer Bret and, in more recent accounts, Les Enseignères. Vine age: The youngest vines are approximately 25–30 years old, with older vines reaching 50+ years.

Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly - 4 bottles available
Vineyards: A little over 0.4 hectare on the southwest-facing continuation of the Montrachet hill. En Remilly is considered one of the leading vineyards of Saint-Aubin. Vine age: No reliable current average is published. A declining section of the vineyard was removed and replanted.

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières - 6 bottles available
Vineyards: Just over 0.4 hectare in the northwestern, upper portion of Les Folatières, close to Premier Cru Les Truffières. The parcel lies roughly on the same elevation contour as Chevalier-Montrachet. Vine age: Approximately 50 years.

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Referts - 6 bottles available
Vineyards: Just over 0.4 hectare in the lower portion of the premier-cru slope, adjacent to Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes. Its deeper soils generally produce a broader and more powerful wine than Les Folatières. Vine age: Approximately 50 years.

RED WINES

Bourgogne Rouge - 24 bottles available
Vineyards: Traditionally a blend of approximately 50% Puligny-Montrachet fruit, 25% Santenay and 25% Maranges. Vine age: 30-40 years.

Maranges Rouge Vieilles Vignes - 12 bottles available
Vineyards: Old Pinot Noir parcels within the Maranges appellation. The wine typically combines generous red and dark fruit with the concentration and structure associated with very old vines. Vine age: Approximately 80–90 years.

Maranges Premier Cru La Fussière Rouge - 24 bottles available
Vineyards: Approximately 4.4 hectares in the higher, more calcareous section of La Fussière. This is the domaine’s largest single vineyard holding. The chalk-rich soils typically produce dark fruit, freshness, structure and pronounced minerality. Vine age: Approximately 50–55 years.

Maranges 1er Cru Les Clos Roussots - 12 bottles available
Vineyard: Just over 0.5 hectare of Pinot Noir vines in Clos Roussots, a well-regarded Maranges Premier Cru forming a geological continuation of Santenay Premier Cru Clos Rousseau. The site has brown marl soils over a band of hard limestone, giving the wine a combination of ripe fruit, freshness, firm structure and limestone-derived precision. The Bachelet family had owned a small parcel here for decades, but the quantity was previously too limited for a separate bottling and was blended into the domaine’s village wines. A new farming lease beginning in 2022 increased the holding to slightly more than 0.5 hectare. The 2022 was the first separately produced vintage. Vine age: Approximately 50 years.

Pommard - 2 bottles available
Vineyards: A village-level Pommard assembled from two lieux-dits, with approximately 75% coming from Les Chanlins and 25% from La Vache. Les Chanlins is a steep, high-elevation parcel on the Volnay side of Pommard, immediately above Pommard Premier Cru Les Chanlins. La Vache lies above Les Rugiens-Hautes 1er cru and adds depth and structure to the blend. The altitude and limestone produce an unusually fresh, elegant and aromatic Pommard, often described as Volnay-like. Les Chanlins supplies perfume, red fruit and finesse, while La Vache contributes additional depth and structure. Vine age: The principal 0.25-hectare Les Chanlins parcel is approximately 40 years old.
