The 2024 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru comes from two parcels though this cuvée comes mainly from the old vines occupying one of the plots. It has a lifted bouquet with citrus peel just a touch of blackcurrant leaf and cold stone. The palate is very well balanced with a smooth entry fine mineralité and tension more pepper than other En Remilly wines with a lingering vibrant finish. Give this a year or two in bottle. - By Neal Martin on January 2026 “The season was difficult due to all the water” winemaker Marc Bachelet told me. Together was his brother Alexandre the pair have cemented Bachelet-Monnot’s reputation for crafting exceptional whites and reds from their winery in Dezizes-les-Maranges which is worth visiting for the dazzling views alone especially when ablaze with autumn hues. “Being organic was complicated. The end result was not bad but had smaller yields at 23 hl/ha for the reds and 45 hl/ha for the whites. The harvest began on September 16 with just nine days of picking instead of twelve or thirteen. So I am happy. It was a normal vinification but with a light extraction and we used whole bunch in some cuvées. We did not use any new-oak barrels for the reds this year. The whites were racked after 12 months in barrel.” This was an intermittently brilliant set of 2024s from Bachelet-Monnot crowned by their stupendous Bâtard-Montrachet. Interestingly Bachelet remarked that having more Cordon de Royat-trained vines in Maranges proved to be an advantage. They tend to be more regular that Guyot-trained vines and though they often produce lower yields they result in more ripeness which was sought after in this sun-deprived year. This portfolio comes highly recommended in 2024 and testifies to the talent at the helm.
