From the moment it opens, the wine is enticing — red cherries, blueberry and a lift of orange, with hints of bark and dried seaweed that remind you exactly where these grapes were grown. On the palate it is crunchy and fruit-driven, with a quiet spice running through the mid-palate that I attribute to the Mondeuse. The tannins are silky, giving the wine shape and grip without weight, and the finish is fresh, delicate and long.
