100 points JS: Multilayered aromas of grilled citrus, smoked agave and white pepper with rich plums and spices. A touch of savoriness reminiscent of blood oranges, iron and cloves. Truly inspiring, combining complexity, depth and fluidity with precision and fine, polished tannins. It goes on and on, subtle flowers and citrus echoing in the finish. From a small 120-year-old vineyard. Drink or hold. Just around 2,000 bottles made.

97 Points JD: The 2021 Sierra Cantabria Mágico comes from incredibly old vines planted just after phylloxera and is composed of 60% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, and a handful of other varieties. Ripe black cherries, darker currants, spring flowers, violets, and hints of crushed stone define the aromatics, and this beauty is full-bodied, has a round, layered, seamless mouthfeel, plenty of background oak, and a sensational finish. It offers pleasure today yet should have 20-25 years of longevity.” Jeb Dunnuck Importer Highlight, July

96 pts Wine Advocate: The luxury cuvée 2019 Mágico is a blend of 65% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha, 2.5% de Graciano, 1% Alicante Bouschet and 1.1% other reds and whites, 4.4% Calagraño, 3.2% Turruntés and 2.8% Viura, the breakdown of the vineyard, a plot planted after phylloxera and showing the classical field blend of the early 20th century. All the grapes except the Garnacha were harvested and fermented together in a French oak vat followed by malolactic in new 500-liter oak barrels, where the wine matured for some 25 months. It's ripe and heady, showcasing the style of the year and the preferences here, when they favor powerful years, spicy and with a lactic touch, full-bodied, with good ripeness and nice balance and freshness. 2,000 bottles were filled in March 2022.
