Dominique Lafon

Dominique Lafon is widely known for his almost unattainable Burgundies from vineyards stretching from Meursault to Montrachet. They family has owned vines in Meursault since the 1800s and have been recognized as one of the top producers of Burgundy since Dominique took over in the early 80s. in 1999, he expanded his family's vineyard holdings from Meursault in the Cote de Beaune and to the south into the Mâconnais.  At this time, the Maconnais was really only know for making mediocre, more insipid wines, from industrial farmed vines, as compared to it's prestigious northern neighbors in the Cote d'Or. Dominique trailblazed his way in, purchasing 25 hectares and converted these vines to 100% biodynamic.  His family purchased vines in some of the single Macon villages like Uchizy, Milly La Martine, Chardonnay, and Fuisse.  Since then, the wines have become the benchmark for the Macon, and are very tightly allocated, further adding to their status as one of the top producers of Chardonnay in the world.

Dominique also started his own project separate from the family's  Domaine Comtes Lafon label and starting the Dominique Lafon label from premier cru vines he purchased in the Beaune.
 
Today we offer wines from all three of the Lafon properties-- Heritiers de Comte Lafon in the Macon,  Dominique Lafon, and Domaine des Comte Lafon.

The Mâconnais wines are spread across a few villages, including his single parcel Chatenay from Pouilly-Fuisse, Les Maranches from Macon-Uchizy, and his Vire-Clesse made from his oldest vines at his highest elevation.  

We have two  red Burgundies from Dominque and Comtes Lafon from top 1er cru vineyards in the heralded village of Volnay as well!  We rarely see these wines!
