Under a mountain, Tenuta di Trinoro is an estate with different soils. Some plantings are over 25 years old. Having developed large root systems, they now translate the soils’ distinct tastes. After observing certain grapes coming to the winery with different flavors over so many harvests, we decided to bottle 3 parcels of vineyards separately, under their own labels.
Campo di Camagi (100% Cabernet Franc) is a 1.5-hectare vineyard where vines have grown on broken quartz and limestone, long before we planted: densely, in a thin layer of soil, at 550 meters above sea level. The plants struggled for room until they reached a balance: roots having filled the ground, each vine has the same number of leaves in its share of the air.
95pts JS: A very savory and vinous wine with aromas of of plums, black cherries, blueberries, earth, minerals, leather, dried flowers and ash. Full-bodied, it shows firm, velvety tannins on the mid-palate. It’s powerful yet balanced by supple fruit, juicy acidity and a long, layered aftertaste.
Fallstaff 94 pts: Rich, brilliant ruby-purple colour. Presents itself with a fine mix of notes of fresh cigar and rich blackberry fruit, then mulberry, plus some resinous notes. Lots of grippy tannins on the palate, spicy, still a little rough and angular.
95 pts Vinum: Powerful aromas of forest fruits, notes of chocolate, and subtle minerality captivate the nose; juicy on the palate, with plenty of body and fine-grained tannins, the finish is powerful with red and black berries, almost opulent.
