Under a mountain, Tenuta di Trinoro is an estate with different soils. Some plantings are over twenty-five years old. Having developed large root systems, they now translate the soils’ distinct tastes. After observing certain grapes coming to the winery with different flavors over so many harvests, we decided to bottle three parcels of vineyards separately, under their own labels.
Campo di Tenaglia (100% Cabernet Franc) is a 0.8-hectare vineyard grown on 8 feet of crumbled limestone. The vines grow facing the sunset at 500 meters of altitude. Campo di Tenaglia is produced since 2014 exclusively with grapes from a particle of 0.8 hectares characterized by a land over two meters deep, with coarse sand of crushed limestone.
The vineyard is located on an open slope facing the sunset at an altitude of about 500 meters.
Wine Advocate, 93 points: “The Tenuta di Trinoro 2022 Campo di Tenaglia (with 1,146 bottles produced) is Cabernet Franc from a 0.8-hectare parcel with limestone aggregate sandy soils at 500 meters above sea level. The wine appears the ripest to me, almost sticky in consistency, with chewy blackberry, spice and campfire ash. The alcohol is recorded at 15%, and the aromas do lean to the cooked side of the spectrum. this is a full-bodied expression that prizes volume and textural richness.”
