Under a mountain, Tenuta di Trinoro is an estate with different soils. Some plantings are over twenty-five years old. Having developed large root systems, they now translate the soils’ distinct tastes. After observing certain grapes coming to the winery with different flavors over so many harvests, we decided to bottle three parcels of vineyards separately, under their own labels.
Campo di Tenaglia (100% Cabernet Franc) is a 0.8-hectare vineyard grown on 8 feet of crumbled limestone. The vines grow facing the sunset at 500 meters of altitude. Campo di Tenaglia is produced since 2014 exclusively with grapes from a particle of 0.8 hectares characterized by a land over two meters deep, with coarse sand of crushed limestone.
The vineyard is located on an open slope facing the sunset at an altitude of about 500 meters.
Antonio Galloni, Vinous, 96 points: “The 2020 Campo di Tenaglia is a heady, explosive wine. Soaring Cabernet Franc aromatics make a strong first impression. Deep and layered, with tons of intensity, the 2020 opens beautifully with time in the glass. Beams of tannin lend energy through to the focused finish. This is such a promising wine. Drinking window: 2025-2040”
Monica Larner – Robertparker.com, 96 points “The Tenuta di Trinoro 2020 Campo di Tenaglia (made with 100% Cabernet Franc) opens to an inky and impenetrable appearance and full-bodied texture. The bouquet is absolutely packed tight with dark fruit, spice, cured tobacco and mineral hints of granite or iron ore. The wine feels very young, and it has the textural fiber and firmness to withstand a long aging trajectory. Production is limited to 1,400 bottles. “Drink Date 2024 – 2045
