69g/ RS; 9.8g acid; 8%alc. From very old vines (planted around 1944) in a mix of grey and blue slate. Whole cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation, full yeast maturation. From very old, un-grafted vines in the south-facing Fossem part of the vineyard. There is always a seductive honeyed citrus quality to this wine. Moist earth and dark slate notes complicate the finish. This should be given some time to lose its baby fat.
MFW93pts: " The 2023er Krettnacher Euchariusberg Riesling Spätlese Alte Reben was made from fruit harvested at 87° Oechsle on 75-year-old un-grafted vines in the south-facing Fossem part of the vineyard and was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (68 g/l). This wine offers a subtly creamy nose made of apricot, cream, saffron, citrusy elements, bergamot, and smoke. The wine is racy at first on the palate before beautifully creamy elements come through and lift the flavors on the palate. The finish is subtly ample (by the standards of the Estate) but very satisfying and persistent. What a great Spätlese! 2033-2043 "
