0.68 hectares just next to Taillepieds, purchased in 1936. 2015 marked the triumphant return of this monopole after 6 years of the grapes being sold to Henri Boillot (bottled as Volnay village). Same North - South vine row orientation as Clos de Tart, Clos des Lambrays, La Tache, La Grand Rue, La Romanée, and Cros Parantoux! Aged in barrel (30% new).

The 2018 Volnay Clos de Verseuil 1er Cru has a very charming bouquet that I feel has more delineation and precision than the Les Mitans at this premature juncture. Very focused with more mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with a very harmonious entry, dark berry fruit mixed with black pepper and a light gaminess towards the finish. Very fresh and vibrant, this is a superb Volnay from Clerget. (NM)
