Jean Grosperrin founded the House Grosperrin in 1992, which stands out as one of the last independent Cognac houses. Grosperrin dedicates itself largely to vintage cognacs (only about 1% of all cognacs produced are vintage because of highly restrictive and onerous regulations). Relying on his deep network of growers, Jean and his son Guilhelm purchase barrels of cognacs that they age and release once it is properly matured. This is all accomplished without blending vintages or barrels and without the addition of common additives such as sugar, wood flavoring and color. The result is a line of cognacs produced from all the appellations of Cognac (not just Champagne and Petite Champagne) that shows off vintages dating back to the WWII era.
