Elio Sandri Barolo Riserva Perno Vigna Ceretta 2019 750ml

 The estate’s special Ceretta parcel is a southeastern-exposed vineyard of well-draining blue marl
with very little topsoil, where Elio farms 0.44 hectares worth of 40-year-old Michet-clone
Nebbiolo. Always produced as a Barolo Riserva, Ceretta yields a wine of elemental stoniness,
intense concentration, and borderline-imposing structure that nonetheless charms the drinker
with its sense of unforced authenticity. Aged in old 40-hectoliter botti for 56 months after a long
natural fermentation in cement, the 2019 “Vigna Ceretta di Perno” is particularly classical in its sinewy intensity, and mesmerizing in its slowly unfurling complexity.
