Certified biodynamic. 70% Zweigelt, 30% Blaufränkisch. Fruit is hand-picked in late Aug and early Sept from two separate vineyards planted in 2009. The Blaufränkisch parcel is planted on sandy, warm soil; the Zweigelt parcel on sandy clay with chalky pockets. The fruit was done 30% whole-cluster macerated on the skins for 12 hours; then both varieties were direct pressed off together as 70% whole bunches, into a mix of used French 225L neutral barrels and 1200L neutral Austrian füders, as well as one 1000L clay amphora. Everything aged nine months on lees before being racked into steel immediately before bottling. Unfined, unfiltered, 20mg/l SO2 added before final blending into steel.
