Colour: Dark and violent-purple with flashes of violet at the rim edge. Nose: Blueberries, mulberries, and blackberries - with a hint of cream. All the aromas of cabernet sauvignon: cassis and tomato leaf and mint and blackberry jam. Subdued cigar box from the judicious oak barrel acquaintanceship. Then more mint and more menthol and more eucalypt slips by. Palate: A rounded palate of blackberries and dark forest fruits. Then drying tannins catwalk through, as if by three or four gear changes. This textural effect makes it a complete and satisfying red wine: plush enough with all those blackberry fruits; yet stern enough with cabernet’s tannins bringing that certain kind of unseen formality.
