JS 95pts TOP 100 WINES OF SPAIN 2025 | #63
“Floral, showing ripe, racy strawberries and a touch of wild herbs and mulberries. Firm with medium to full body and a juicy, open-grained finish. Vineyards from La Canoca. Drink or hold.”
Septeno, the 7th wine released by Cuentaviñas, was born from Eduardo Eguren's personal challenge to make a single vineyard wine from the historic La Canoca valley in San Vicente de la Sonsierra. One could say Eduardo has La Canoca running through his veins - the Eguren family was responsible for bringing this valley to international attention with the release of Señorío de San Vicente, Rioja's first single cru wine, produced from the La Canoca valley for the first time in 1991. This valley, in the highest altitude foothills of the Sonsierra, has a unique connection to the mountain forest that covers the Sierra de Cantabria and, due to its orientation, has minimal hours of sunlight. This, combined with a more humid terroir, has allowed Eduardo to produce a fluid, elegant, and impactful wine that perfectly captures the essence of this mountain forest terroir.
