Nusserhof Heinrich Mayr Vigneti delle Dolomiti Teroldego 2018 750ml

100% Teroldego. Teroldego is a close relative of Lagrein, both being native Südtirol varieties. Nusserhof only has 11 rows of it, and these are there youngest vines at around 30 years old. The yield is quite low. The farming is certified organic and harvest is by hand. The grapes are mainly destemmed but with up to 30% left in whole clusters. Fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts and with a 5-6-week maceration in stainless steel. The wine is aged in used Burgundy barriques for 2-2.5 years, followed by at least 2 more years in bottle. A small amount of sulfur is added at the first racking after fermentation and at bottling only. Only 1000 bottles produced in a normal vintage.
